IT'S SO DELICIOUS....UMMMMAH...


Mee Jawa is a popular dish influenced by the Jawa Island, Indonesia … obviously, hence the name.

I still remember the last time I tried Mee Jawa, it's so wonderfull and make me think about it when i go to one restaurant to get order my dish. I had one story to share to all of you about mee jawa, it's occur 5 years ago when my friend Asri from Tawau visited my house to finished their holiday. In afternoon, my mother was serve Mee Jawa to him but he ignore it, because he said he doesn't like it,,i think mybe he ever not to try eat it and i said to him "just wait and see". when he look me eating he asked to me"that the food delicious?? and i said yes, let's try it,he took a spoon of the mee jawa soup, and lastly he was finish 5 plate of mee jawa, it's so wonderfull, my family and i was laughed to him and at the night he impatient to take our dinner....mybe this story can imagine to you about the delicious of mee jawa and now he was study in ukm in Sciene and Technology Facultys...haha
So what’s so special about this Mee Jawa dish, I mean besides being an ‘imported’ dish? To start off with, it’s served with a HUGE plate, that’s for sure.Mee jawa is just like mee rebus which is just like tomato sauce mee ! and yes its gotta be sweet too and for sure pretty hard to remember. How it can serve???? mee jawa ingredient are made from yellow eggs noodle,medium sized shrimp,fish balls, tomatoes, shallots,black pepper, cabbage, kangkung, chillies and many more....
Ingredients :

1kgyellow noodles
1kgmedium prawns
500gmsweet potatoes - mashed
50gmgula melaka
3xheap tbsp cornstarch
1/2cupoil
1xsalt & pepper
2 1/2ltwater
To make herb paste, blend or pound:
3stalklemon grass
6xshallots
4xpips garlic
4xcm ginger
4xcm galangal
5xred chillies

Method :
  • Heat oil and fry the paste till fragrant. Add prawn stock, simmer and bring to a boil. Stir in the mashed potatoes and thicken with the cornstarch and season with sugar and salt and pepper.
  • Serve with fried tofu, slices of hard boiled egg, prawns, beansprouts, potatoes and a squeeze of lime juice.
  • To make prawn stock:
    Bring 2.5 litre water to a boil and pour in the prawns. When prawns are cooked, dish them out. Shell the prawns and keep aside for the noodles. Return the prawn shells to the pot to make prawn stock. Continue boiling the stock for another 30 minutes. Discard the shells.
